Rare Antique Kyser & Rex Cast Iron Mechanical Rooster Bank Circa 1880-1890    Rare Antique Kyser & Rex Cast Iron Mechanical Rooster Bank Circa 1880-1890
Condition: Excellent cast iron finish with no original paint. An original would have had its head painted red, the body black, and the base green. The rooster has all other parts: the two cast sides of the rooster, working hinged two-piece rooster head, and the set screw. This rooster was found as a rusted object. We removed the rust and stabilized the cast iron. It's original cast details are quite beautiful. "Mechanical Rooster Bank" mechanical bank manufactured by the Kyser & Rex Company of Philadelphia/Frankfort, Pennsylvania. This is an antique mechanical bank without its internal lever. This bank originally worked by placing a coin in the slot on the rooster's tail and slowly as you move the lever downward the rooster bobs his head several times appearing to crow as the coin falls into the bank. This piece is in excellent all original condition with no breaks, restorations, repairs, or touch-ups.

It has no remaining paint and is missing its lever to operate the bank. Kyser & Rex Company of Philadelphia/Frankfort, Pennsylvania. Founder: Louis Kyser and Alfred C.
